The Caretaker
In this project, I presented the VR artwork "The Caretaker" alongside architectural, sculptural landscapes derived from its fictional visual language. The Caretaker appears here as a figure constructing a perpetual virtual environment shaped from memories of the real world, reflecting both a desire to preserve fragile landscapes and to generate artificial versions that may seem more ideal than their originals. A fragmented monologue introduces a quiet sense of nostalgia, while repetitive audio, stillness, and the viewer’s ability to move freely through the space create an uncanny atmosphere. It remains ambiguous whether the viewer inhabits the Caretaker’s perspective or navigates an archive of inherited, collective memories, formed through familiar natural motifs. Experienced through a VR headset and controller, the work unfolds as a non-linear, explorable 3D environment.
